Review removed because I can't, in good conscience, support someone who doesn't respect her readers.

Really enjoyed it. The one before was a DNF, so I am happy the series ended strongly for me. Loved it.

This book is all about grief and moving through and past it. It doesn't get depressing or slogged down though. It feels real. You understand Thad's pain. You understand Levi's pain. It doesn't feel hollow or gratuitous when it so easily could. Thad and Levi really are a great match. I really love how Levi doesn't try to change Thad, he doesn't try and suddenly make him a social butterfly. He respects that Thad needs space, not at first....there are some "JUST SAY SOMETHING" moments but they were just getting to know each other at that point. I liked Levi's mom, I like that she wasn't a paragon of motherhood, she was lost in her grief too and stumbled along the way. I'm not sure what I think about Matty. But I'm guessing he'll get a book?

This was cute and all, but little details kept taking me out of the story. Thad’s pack weighs 40 pounds...he doesn’t have a sleeping pad, apparently, but he carried a fishing rod and only used it once? They wear jeans while backpacking? They don’t have headlamps, because Levi says they can’t hike at night, and he never mentions them using headlamps while they’re out of the tent at night. WHERE ARE THEIR TRAIL NAMES? I kept expecting them to get cute trail names but they never do! That would have been so cute! Do they buy instant meals in trail towns or did they mail themselves packages ahead of time? And Levi fell not once, not twice, but three times, and Thad saved him every time. That was a touch unrealistic.

Gah, Megan Erickson writes the best words. I'm learning that I really like broody characters, so I really loved Thad. The dynamic between him and Levi is perfect.
