I appreciated the portrayal of Jacob's anxiety, and loved how Briana naturally responded to it. I didn't love seeing Jacob sometimes get steamrolled by his family - yes they were loving, but also overbearing. I also honestly don't understand why everyone was so up in arms about his ex getting together with his brother, when she and Jacob had clearly not been a good match.

I had some issues with the pacing and struggled with keeping track of the passage of time. I wish the letters had been dated, or there had been other clear markers between events. Questionable decisions and lack of communication aside, I was won over by the characters' chemistry and care for each other.

A 6⭐️ read for sure. I haven't felt this much while reading in awhile. I think I cried 3 times. If you love fake dating, mutual pining, and a strong emotional book this is the one.

I think this is my least favourite book from Abby—but it was still good. I’m not sure if it was my mood or the content, but the magic just wasn’t there for me.

I liked how Briana knew who she was and what she stood for, but I DIDNT like that she went back on not
wanting to be married again because she met Jacob. Sure; it happens. But I was excited to see a book where the HEA isn’t stereotypical.

There were some things we didn’t get closure with.
How did Jacob’s mom know they weren’t real, besides her being a therapist? Also on that note, I didn’t like that her advice to him was to push Briana to seek therapy. That’s a personal decision and personally I don’t think a partner telling me to go to therapy would be received well.

As a personal gripe, the Nadia Cakes mentions are too much for me. I know it’s her bakery and obviously she’s got every right…but maybe we can cut five of the mentions out.

OVERALL the book was cute. I loved the premise, I love letter writing (but I wanted more!), I loved the representation of social anxiety. It was all wonderful. But a miscommunication trope,
surprise pregnancy,
and overall stubbornness from the main characters took it down a notch for me.

I loved the book, the story, the characters. I didn't give it a 5 stars because the miscommunication was a bit too long for my liking.
