One day while working the Polar Express Train, I forgot to put a book in my bag. In the past I had browsed the book selection at Acme (where I worked) and remember being impressed. It was there that I found and purchased this book edited by my favorite author! I enjoyed it greatly!!!

Fun, but I wish Ms Lackey would write some more full lenth Valdemar books.

I didn't like the last story at all, a poor way to end it. Aside from that, a pretty good collection.

Another fine collection of short stories set in Mercedes Lackey's world of Valdemar. However Lackey chooses the contributing writers, she always comes up trumps. There's a pair of linked stories in the collection that I found especially intriguing.

Some very good stories in this book, others were alright. It's always wonderful reading different stories about Valdemar

Like most short story collections in this series, the quality of the story really depends on the author writing. There are a few that are very good, and some that are so so. I got the distinct impression that some were just too short to cover the breadth of the storyline in short story format, they felt overly truncated.

I like it.
As always with story collections - some are very good, some are okay and some are not for me.
I really like the one about an old Elsbeth and of Herald Jors ones the most. :)
The last one - that kind of breaks the fourth wall and is set in modern times - has been interesting too.
I enjoyed the two directly connected ones too. And the one set at the founding at Valdemar? Yeah, like it.
All in all, a nice trip back to Valdemar. :)

I was disappointed in 80% of these short stories. they all seemed to fall flat and not really have any of the 'magic' that the stories by Mercedes Lackey have. i especially disliked the last in particular.

A nice collection of stories, but like with all of these collections, I'm always left wanting more. The last story is terrible, don't even waaste your time.
