A very difficult and boring book to read. Imagine old style English and long sentences plus details about things that didn't matter. I didn't like Defoe's style of writing. The characters weren't referred to by name, so i was confused most of the time. Sometimes i felt i was reading a very badly written and boring fairy tale!

I know this book was written almost 400 years ago but I found it a bit of a yawn. Too much prose; not enough dialogue. And the heroine was rather tiresome. She fell on her feet just too many times for my liking & found the narrative of her life just one long sermon.

Old-fashioned style and grammar made this a tough one to get through, but I appreciate it as an anchor to my study of the British novel.
Stupendo veramente un libro bellissimo, lo consiglio vivamente, un romanzo che racconta la vita di una donna tra gioie e dolori, le accade veramente di tutto sicuramente Defoe ha un pó esagerato ma dà leggere

I read this one for my Literature class and I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. It's layered and full of social commentary, specifically Defoe engages with themes like love/money, societal taboos, class and work, and also womanhood in a lot of ways. While the narrative becomes sort of repetitious after a while (Moll is in need of money, she finds a husband, something is wrong, they part ways, and repeat) and contains many instances of moralizing that were rather preaching (this might be intentional though?), I did like the glimpse into the ways in which a woman like Moll navigated her way through 17th/18th century British society.
