I would give King Lear a 2.5/5.
It is clearly not my favourite play of Shakespeare. I did not feel pain or empathy for Lear as he only wanted to be praised and by such a wish he created his own suffering.
Nevertheless, I quite liked the character of Edmund, who, despite plotting against his brother and father, has more reason to do it and really interrogates the social order and the idea of legitimacy.
