This is Book 1 in the Arlington Hall series and it’s off to a great start!
Amelia is newly single, licking her wounds from a painful breakup and she’s working really hard to prove herself personally and professionally. She has no time for relationships and appears to be an alpha female who can give as good as she takes. Her besties take her to Arlington Hall for a special spa day.

Well well… I never saw a spa like that and they did whaaat?

Jude is our alpha hero! Grumpy possessive, jealous and really has trouble accepting the word No. In fact at times, there were too many similarities to another alpha hero with a letter J. Seeing Amelia for the first time put him on a course to pursue her at all costs. His pursuit of Amelia was so relentless, it sometime had me wondering about him. What’s going on? What demons is he hiding? Yet, in spite of her inner turmoil, Amelia is drawn to him and their chemistry is truly undeniable!

This book was compelling, intriguing and hotter than a dry spa. However, some of Amelia’s the inner monologue didn’t match her actions. There were a lot of unanswered questions and the jaw dropping ending had me screaming at my kindle. I’ve begun counting down for book 2.

God, JEM is glorious. I am emotionally broken and Jude and JEM are both to blame. And it hurts so good.

Jude and Amelia are hot and cold (𝚝𝚑𝚊𝚗𝚔 𝚢𝚘𝚞 𝚜𝚝𝚎𝚊𝚖 𝚛𝚘𝚘𝚖) and I was here for every second. And this plot, this story, this ending was everything I hoped and expected from this book.

I am not okay. Since Jodi expects us to just…wait.

This is why she is my all time favorite. JEM was right, Jude is definitely irresistible. Slow and savory is his seduction strategy and boy has he perfected it.

Thank you to JEM and @valentine_pr_ for the e-ARC. I love getting the opportunity to ready an early copy of JEMs work. 𝕀𝕗 𝕤𝕙𝕖 𝕨𝕣𝕚𝕥𝕖𝕤 𝕚𝕥, 𝕀’𝕞 𝕕𝕖𝕗𝕚𝕟𝕚𝕥𝕖𝕝𝕪 𝕘𝕠𝕟𝕟𝕒 𝕣𝕖𝕒𝕕 𝕚𝕥. Hands Down. No Question. And this book will look so good on MY JEM shelf 💞

The Invitation was an interesting and intriguing read that wasn't at all what I expected. I expected a workplace romance with boardroom assignations of which this most certainly was not. It was angsty, sensual and steamy. I liked the characters, Amelia and Jude and want to know more about them especially Jude, I need to know his motivation, why he acted the way he did plus the answers to the countless other questions that I have? All in all it was an enjoyable read one that I'm invested in and looking forward to reading its conclusion.

There were parts of this book I really liked and parts I wish the author had spent more time on. First off, I loved the two friend side characters. Every time they were in the book, I smiled because they were so real and funny. I enjoyed the angst and the push and pull between Amelia and Jude, but it seemed very superficial. They didn’t really give me the vibes of being in love, even if they wanted to say they were. The story was a little repetitive with half the book being spent with the constant back and forth of will they won’t they. Jude has a TON of red flags, but I expected that in a book like this. The twist at the end was awesome and I honestly wish that had happened a little earlier so it could’ve been explored more as that felt like a significant plot point. Anxiously awaiting the second installment!

The Invitation by Jodi Ellen Malpas is a seductive romance that ignites the pages with an intoxicating blend of passion, mystery and emotional depth. Jude, the enigmatic billionaire with a dangerous allure and a closely guarded secret, meets his match in Amelia, a bold, independent woman who refuses to be intimidated by his power—or the undeniable fire between them. Their chemistry is combustible, a thrilling combination of dominance and desire, and Jude’s secret adds intrigue and tension that made their connection even more irresistible.

Malpas’s storytelling is addictive and sensual with magnetic characters, an electric romance and a thrilling plot. It was an utterly unputdownable read that was tantalizingly steamy, emotionally charged and completely consuming. I am on the edge of my seat in anticipation for the release of The Surrender! Five smooches from me for The Invitation by Jodi Ellen Malpas!

Thanks to Valentines PR for selecting me for this ALC. And a HUGE!!! thank you to the wonderful author for writing this amazing book. THANK YOU!!! ❤❤❤

Jude and Amelia.

You know this book had me wanting to kick some ass and walk away without apologizing and that's really toxic like Jude. I wanted to like this man, I really did but geez WHYYYYYY?!?!?! My heart is wrecked for Amelia because she deserved so much better.

The thing about Amelia is that she's super relatable to me. She didn't 100% ignore the red flags but she did in some ways because I know she had that gut feeling that something was just not right. But like a lover girl, as much as she wanted to focus on her career after her previous breakup, she was just pulled to him and she couldn't resist. I'm telling you I was like that and looking back I would want to slap me too because as much I love her I wanted to slap her and scream at her her to "WALK TF OUT!!!" but again I get it, I really did. When it comes to Jude, what he did was....I have no words actually. I know there's a backstory obviously but I couldn't come back from that, like he could send text after text with explanation after explanation but I couldn't so I'm intrigued to see what's to come you know. This cliffhanger definitely has me at the edge of my seat.

Overall I give this book a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5. She deserved better though and I don't know what's to come in the next book because I want...nope...NEED to see TOP TIER groveling, like OUT OF THIS WORLD GROVELING!!! While at the same time, I'm also buckling up for a possible walk away heartbreak because this could go any way and that's what has me wanting more because I wish I had the next book right now but the yearning for it will keep me for now lol. Team Amelia all the way.

Oh and P.S. Her ex knowing about Jude more than she knows has me wondering what's about to happen. Bring all the drama on lol.

Nobody writes intense, dominant, and obsessive heroes quite like Ms Malpas and Jude Harrison definitely ticks all the boxes in The Invitation, the first book in her Arlington Hall series when he seemingly falls for Amelia Lazenby when she arrives at his exclusive hotel for a spa day for a birthday treat with her friends. The attraction was instant between them but the newly single Amelia, intent on her career played hard to get but a series of apparent coincidences meant all paths seemed to lead her back to Arlington Hall and her eventual submission. Until just as shes about to admit her growing feelings for Jude and give him a chance, she discovers that nothing is what it seems, and their entire relationship has been manipulated right from the start.

If you’ve read this author before theres a strong chance you’ll find this book familiar. For Jude, read Jesse and I’ll admit writing this review I almost typed ‘the manor’ instead of Arlington Hall. Amelia was a more mature heroine at the ripe old age of thirty, but she did regress when with her two besties Abbey and Charley and their antics in this book had me laughing. They were a trio who I could imagine as little old ladies in their nursing home still behaving badly with the long-suffering Del looking on, shaking his head. I also enjoyed the initial air of mystery surrounding Jude and I’m eager to see what crazy lengths he’ll go to win back Amelia in the second book.

Jude is a man obsessed. Touch her and (you know what) vibes kind of obsessed. Boy don’t we love a smokin’ hot man obsessed. So, take this book for what it is in the over-the-top possessive male category. He loses all sensibility when around her and is jealous of any male who gets near her. So, with that in mind… I devoured this whole thing up like a cat licking cream.

Amelia gets a surprise spa invitation to Arlington Hall, an exclusive resort, and encounters Jude. Sparks fly and his pursuit of her is nothing short of tenacious. After a recent break-up she wants to concentrate on work and has no time for any man. But Jude doesn’t take no for an answer.  And as they come together you get a sense that all is not right in Jude’s world, possibly he’s hiding something. And as the book progresses that feeling of something not all right in the world gets stronger. This ends in a cliffhanger, and what a doozy it is. And it looks like book 2 will give us more about who Jude really is and hopefully we get our happily-ever-after.

I usually don’t care for 1st person only POV. But here it works well to add to the mystery that is Jude Harrison. This romance is the obsessive I-can’t-breathe-without-you kind. So, if that’s your jam, (and honestly, who wouldn’t want that) then The Invitation is for you. Jude is an enigma from page one and that leads to delicious tension and an intense cliffhanger.
