It's been a while since I read the first prequel in this series, but I do remember that it made me really curious about the rest of the story. This prequel didn't really do that for me. It was an easy and fast read and I liked getting to know the prince a little already, but this book didn't have the same kind of magic and didn't make me as curious. However, the second book in this series is releasing soon, so I wanna try to finish the first book at least before then. Hopefully my enthusiasm returns once I start the main book!

I already forgot what this one was about or what happened. But I feel like it was mentioned in the actual novel. Regardless, still gonna read..

This is the companion to the Scepter, from his POV. She called him Donn (what?) but he is the Savage Prince. He is trying to save his people and hates the witches that are killing his people and poisoning the land. He suspects his Uncle- probably right.

This story is a hundred (or 200?) years after Rooke has closed her head to him and he faithfully misses her. He makes a visit to the Seer as well.

Apparently they are to be separated for 1,000 years! I hate this! Not sure if I will read the stories since they hate what each other represents and it’s taking centuries to be together.

I wasn’t enjoying this as much as The Scepter but I love our MMC and learning about the politics. I love a high stakes political fantasy and I cannot wait to dive back into this world with book 1.
Yayyyyyyyyy to liking a novella!
Progress is being made.

It was slow and I didn’t learn very much new information! I hate Soren, but I do understand his thought process a little better. But he’s extremely arrogant and entitled and it drives me nuts.

Short story following Soren prior to finding Rooke. Follows him dealing with witches and his uncle. Decent short story giving some background for the series, but like The Septor, I think best read after book one rather than as the prequel it is.

This was a great book.  He is almost 1000 years old and talking about his mate 200 years after she disappeared.   I wonder what happened in those 200 years.  My guess is be the leader of the witches that are attacking him all the time.
