It was the same theme over and over again, without any change or progression in the concept of black identity.

As a white person reading this, it's challenging and sad. A picture of the space where black society in the USA operates. I would love to say that its wrong, or the USA is unique in this situation, but I cannot.

Coates provides a chilling picture of the American society by what it means to be black from his personal experience growing up in Baltimore. He argues that upper class black people are not immune from the system. This talks extensively about how America was built on the sacrifices of black people. This is a very important short read for everyone who is interested in race relations.

Both gut-wrenching and awe-inspiring at the same time. This book read like poetry and moved me to my core. I finished it in 1 day and would recommend it to everyone.

“I would not have you descend into your own dream. I would have you be a conscious citizen of this terrible and beautiful world.”
