Felt like an older Clancy book back to hen he was in his prime.
However Jack Ryan junior feels more like an unkillable James Bond rather than a human being like his father was. Sad to see Clancy died.

I liked this book. It is about Jack Ryan, the president, and his son Jack Ryan who works in Britain. Both of the are involved in the same problem which has been happening since the dad was living in Britain 30 year earlier. There are problems with Russia back then and presently for Jack the dad and problems with Russia now with Jack the son. However until later in the story do you find that they are all inter-related.

It was eerie to read this while the real-life events in Ukraine play out. At one point I read an article on Slate and thought, "This is what is going to happen next in my book!" It almost makes you wonder if Zenith got him.

I also loved the father-son dynamics of this book. Once again, Tom Clancy captures the human even better than the war machinery he so expertly describes.

I'm almost hesitant to rate this book. I can understand why people like Tom Clancy. His macho spy world is just not my cuppa. I tried to read the book, but grew tired of it and could not finish it. I respect those who like the genre and suspect Clancy is one of the better writers. Just not for me.

Entertaining as always -- so sad to think that this is likely to be the last Ryan book (maybe the co-writer can continue on?)
