My 3rd grader and I read this one together! She was very engaged in the story and we enjoyed discussing what we thought the characters would do next and what we would do in their situation. I averaged our ratings to get 3.75 😊

Interesting look into the history of Pompeii. Quite enjoyed the fictionalized version of a true event.

My son and I read this book together. Not as good as the others in this series. He rated it a 5, I rated it a 3.

Felt like it was more about Roman Times than the Volcano, but good read.

This seemed more fictional than informational and I can't say anyone reading this would understand the uniqueness of the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius and the burning/burial of Pompeii. I suppose it's a nice fictional account of what life would have been like in the year 79, but I can't say I've become any more enlightened from this book. I'd be curious to read Lauren Tarshis' other books to see how much true information she includes in some of her other I Survived books.

This book in the historical fiction series, I Survived, follows Marcus who lives in Pompeii in AD 79. What I liked about this book is that the author used references they would have used during this time period - to the Muses, the Greek gods, statues, slavery, and the lack of knowledge in the sciences from the masses.
