This is the 10th in the I Survived series, but this one was actually my least favorite, though it was still pretty good. It was about a boy named Marcus who is a slave in Pompeii. One day he is doing his master's laundry and he sees his dad, Tata who Marcus hadn't seen for two months. Eventually they escape and run away to Mt. Vesuvius which is about to erupt, but they don't know that. When they figure out that it is going to explode they come back and warn everyone in Pompeii.

2.0

What this book does decently: plot development, historical perspective, empathy
What this book does poorly: writing style, character development, creativity, critical thinking
I wouldn't recommend it or read the rest of the series.

The tenth book in the I Survived series. A cute little historical fiction book that takes us back to ancient Rome. Marcus and his father are runaway slaves who just happen to find themselves in Pompeii on the day Mount Vesuvius erupts and destroys the city. This book may make young readers desire to learn more about the real incident and Tarshis provides a list of books to help the curious on their way.
