The perfect slice of life book. Slow paced and comforting, felt like catching up with an old friend.

I think I’d have appreciated this more had I watched his HBO series first. Mr.Tucci seems like a great guy.  I did get inspired in many ways from his daily food choices and I enjoyed most of his personal reflections on life, loss, and the passage of time.  However, there were many times in his food-specific writing that he comes off as a bit elitist/oblivious in his preference for very expensive items.  We get it. He’s blessed with money and access. I’m sure he gets a lot of stuff for free as well just because of who he is. Not my favorite in the food-writing genre but a quick read that didn’t overstay its welcome. Kudos to Mr. Tucci for diversifying his revenue streams.

This book is comfort food for the mind. It’s worth getting the audio version to listen to Stanley Tucci narrate it. I don’t think I would’ve found it half as interesting if I was just reading the text. It’s always interesting getting a glimpse into the lives of those we view to be exclusively, famous, and hearing their stories in their own voice. You will find some of the mundane things that even famous people experience surprising.  The exploration of food in this book was indeed my favorite part. Food is what unites us all making the world seem like not so big a place.
