Man I really wanted to like this book. I think there’s some wisdom in here - in recipe format as well as in a few of the musings about food - but this should have just been a cookbook with a few select passages.
I could also have done without the multiple moratoriums on every thought Tucci has had about travel and airports in his oh-so-hard life as a multimillionaire actor with multiple homes and wealthy friends to cook for. Many of his reflections were meant to be refreshing or a little edgy I think? But they mostly came off as “old man yells at cloud” or outright pretentious.
I listened to the end of the book in audio format, narrated by Tucci, and it is by far the best way to experience this book. However, I still couldn’t recommend it unless you’re a very devoted foodie who with a particular interest in italian cuisine, Tuccis particular niche. I did enjoy the touching family moments featuring Tuccis children, both young and old, which generally centered around a shared meal.
Also, there is a rather uninspiring recipe in the form of a VERY uninspiring poem about halfway thru the book and the fact that it made it past the cutting room floor tells me everything I need to know about how much of this book is wrapped up in Tuccis ego.

a fun one to read a few chapters at a time. So many delicious descriptions of meals, but I also enjoyed his various observations & stories about his life/family
I really enjoy Stanley Tucci, his anecdotes, love of food, and appreciation for life. So it makes sense that I would enjoy his daily log through 2023.
I do hope that he and his wife are well since there is some interesting notes about his wife’s activities that were perplexing. Maybe it’s an inside joke!
