Give me the Spoilers section - a complete summary:
This is an autobiographical graphic novel that tells strong memories from Raina's 4th & 5th grade years. It centers around the onset of her mental health struggles as well as making new friends and navigating change. It's not explicit about what diagnosis she receives, but anyone with orthorexia, OCD, eating disorders, and/or anxiety may feel a little triggered by this book. My anxiety was a bit high while reading because Raina does a great job of communicating what it felt like to be her, and her own anxiety was high.

I liked the things this story normalized talking about: mental health, puberty, and body stuff. I want to go back and read the first two books in this trilogy!

Another great one from Raina! This is not a good choice for people triggered by bodily functions…that’s the entire book. I’m so glad middle grades have book options like this that talk about real things young adults go through.

This book would have been perfect for me when my own anxiety was getting out of control, about the same age as Raina. A perfect mixture of seriousness and pre-teen humor makes the subject grounded, relatable, and easy for kids to digest (ha).
