I loved this book, every page of it.
I liked how the story was told, how it affected Monique, which is the journalist that writes Evelyn's story.
The ugliness and consequences of fame, the price of it all, The way all her husbands have an adjective assigned and I found myself being curieuse at each part of why she assigned each word.
There is a beautiful love story, both heartbreaking and warming, a passionnate love that survived through it all.
Evelyn knew how to make her way to the top of the mountain and knew what she had to do, she did hurt people, she did manipulate some, she knows it but she doesn't regret one bit of it all.
We start with a young Evelyn and read her evolution in her relationships, her career and how she fought for what she wanted. She doesn't want to be seen as a good person just because she's famous, she did bad things, broke hearts and promises.
This is an amazing book and never have I found myself pushing it away. You just want to know more.
''It's simply a matter of who's willing to go and take it for themselves. [...] No one is just a victim or a victor. Everyone is somewhere in between. People who go around casting themselves as one or the other are not only kidding themselves, but they're also painfully unoriginal.''
