Such a cute rewrite of the story. Focused more on Mulans inner battle and Shangs view of her. The description of Diyu was so interesting and well written
Moderate: Blood, Injury/Injury detail, Colonisation, Grief, Murder, Death of parent, Violence, and War

Aside from the original source material, Lim manages to use the “Mulan” mythos to create a surprisingly engrossing story with steeped in Chinese mythology while still capturing the central moral of the 1998 film.
Graphic: Death, Death of parent, Violence, Injury/Injury detail, Blood, and Schizophrenia/Psychosis
Moderate: Fire/Fire injury, Grief, Panic attacks/disorders, and Abandonment
Minor: Animal cruelty, Drug use, and Cursing
Be aware of the use of weapons, demons, descriptions of Diyu and Youdu (the Underworld and Hell), running away, and exploration of self-doubt and guilt.wrensreadingroom's review against another edition

“Couldn’t a woman be worth something without having to be a bride?” So many Easter eggs quotes from the movie sprinkled in this slightly reshift / twist if you will about Mulan. This twist focuses on the part where they were in the mountains trying to defeat the Hun and the aftermath of said victory. This story did a great job of presenting itself in a way that I could actually picture the animation as I read. The pacing was a little slow so be mindful it takes a while before any action really happens. Although the book was a little wordy with the descriptions, everyone seemed to be the same as the movie versions of themselves. I’m excited to read the other novels in the Twisted Tales Disney series.
Minor: Grief, Death of parent, and Blood
