Who would have thunk it? A drag queen who isn't gay. A hooker that doesn't have emotional "issues." Together Vic and Sandy fit. I wasn't expecting what Ms. Blevins gave me but boy did I enjoy it. Cocky Queen is sort of connected to the RTMC and Chattanooga world (in that Sandy works for one of their businesses) so you can jump right in without feeling lost. (Although if you haven't already, RTMC and Chattanooga series are must reads!!) But back to Vic and Sandy. I loved that Vic was so secure in who he was that while he expected to be alone he had made his peace with it. And the timing of meeting Vic couldn't not have been worse for Sandy but she took a chance and it worked. I loved that Ms. Blevins took something unexpected and made a relationship both real and believable. Her characters had some many layers that you just wanted to see what else was hiding I loved seeing Vic and Sandy find a way to mesh their kink in a way that moved way beyond what they did and showed us who they were. This story is well written and enjoyable and I can not wait to see what Ms. Blevins will bring us next!

Three things I can say about books by Candace Blevins: 1. They are always kinky 2. I always learn something new 3. They are always engrossing. Every time I open a book by this author I do it with the phrase “your kink is not my kink and that's ok” in mind. In Cocky Queen our hero is a peacock shifter and a successful drag queen who is totally hetero he knows he tried. Our heroine is a Georgia Tech student and working girl. They are made for each other and watching them discover that fact is a true pleasure. Their kink is not mine but I can enjoy watching them enjoy it. This is a fun, kinky romance that takes place in the Chattanooga Supernaturals world but can be read standalone.

As with any series I’ve got a love/hate thing about endings. I was thrilled to see Tabby come into her own and own her relationship with Mab. But I enjoyed the struggle knowing she just had to succeed. I know that there will be issues for her in the future but I was thrilled to see her come this far. Just because this has a feel good ending doesn’t mean this was an easy book but you should expect that by now. This was a terrific ending to a wonderful series.

Drag. Queen. Peacock. Shifter.

I mean. I had to, right?

Then pair him with an intelligent biomedical-engineer-majoring sex worker with a dog whose People Meter is totally borked and add in a caregiver/little relationship and you have the idea of this book in a nutshell. And even though I'm not big on caregiver/little relationships beyond cutesy names and some minor bossiness and funishments...I enjoyed this quite a bit. It's a rather sweet and conflict-free read. There were several spots I would have expected ridiculous drama, and it never came. This is quirky and interesting with zero sex-shaming. Totally smooth ride.
