I lovvee multi generational stories this was one was very heavy and needed the space to think about and read through well not binge read like usual.
I wish the end hadn’t ended so abruptly would’ve loved to have seen both generations realize their connection to each other .

Wow. What an incredible book. Each generation read like it’s own short story, yet it all flowed in such a logical way. A beautiful, haunting book.

This is perfection. Yaa Gyasi had an idea and executed it immaculately. There isn’t much more to say for this one. It is a complex story told with such confidence and purpose that its messages cut through clear and uninhibited. 10/10.

Beautifully written and very interesting. Gyasi effectively explores generational trauma and the nuances of privilege, oppression, and discrimination. Really enjoyed.
