I did not care about the characters, I felt their only function was to have stilted conversatitions explaining the world. I got bored.

The writing is great, but the world building is so poorly executed also i didn't like how the characters are so touchey from the very start of the book and they're so bland :(

Amazing books, because they don't mess around.
This is such a moving, intimate story, I loved it. So creative, honest, beautiful, meaningful- I am excited to see where this series goes. I am not normally drawn to anything Asian (My Step-dad is Japanese and was a very disturbed individual) except the FOOD, but this book was recommended by IA, so of course I had to try. They did warn that it was very intimate, but not sexual, and I found myself responding to the bond of the 2 MC's.
The world building was spectacular, plot believable, the honesty was refreshing and meaningful. There was humor and action, all of which built this wonderful story.
RE-READ Oct 2020- still really love this story and you get to see Kyrie growing up by book 4- so good!
