The concept sounded so exciting and it was fun for a while, but then somewhere along the way it was like the author got bored and just gave up.

Interesting story, well told. The ending was not really clear to me but the first 260 pages were well written and made the book worthwhile. Perhaps I am not insightful enough to grasp the ending, who knows? But I would recommend this book to my daughter and some of her friends, definitely.

This was not your usual retelling of a favorite classic fairy tale! It turns out Cinderella's dear Fairly Godmother wasn't as sweet and nice as the story once went. It is a memory in a present day guise, the reminiscence of dreams gone wrong and the consequences of following our hearts desire. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who enjoys a story with a twist!

DNF.

Wasn't doing it for me. Gave it a fair shot, made it about 70 pages through or so, but just...nope. I went through and read some reviews with spoilers in them and wow--there's a good deal of dark stuff in this book, which is interesting, but not enough to make me go back and change my mind.

Couldn't even get halfway. Not sure what the issue is.

This is not an easy book to read. This is not simple and straightforward. I'm not even sure in what literary category to place this book.
Is it a fantasy book? Or is it a story about someone who's having a psychotic breakdown?
I don't know. I adored the writing, and the characters. But...
The ending....(sigh) it was dark, and sad, and if you're strong or optimist enough to believe..that you're reading a fantasy work, then the ending was perfect for the main character.
The thing is I'm not that optimist. When I reached the last page, the first thing I thought, was: "OK, here is a tale that I would really like to discuss with a psychologist".
Original, that's for sure.
And a story that I probably will never forget.

Not sure how I feel about this book. What really happened? I liked the mental health take on the fairytale, but I am really confused about what was real and what wasn't. Huh. Didn't really make me feel all warm and fuzzy.

While this book ended on a darker tone than it started with, I loved the story. The way it was put together was intricate and done well. Right up until the end, you never question Lil's reliability as a narrator. You expect the whole book to be a fairy tale. When it turns, it's a surprise, and you look at the whole book differently. Beautiful.

I liked this overall, the ending was bit twisted, but I sort of got a feeling that was the way we were headed about 3/4th of the way through. Not really a "light hearted" read, but a decent story!
