i got a couple pages into this satire, guessed what was about to happen and then realized that i have already read this book back in high school! it was a very hilarious moment for me to experience all by myself haha

À travers les aventures de Candide, Voltaire réussit à faire une excellente critique de la théodicée de Leibniz qui est à la fois hilarante et pertinente. Ce livre prouve que les classiques qui ont été écrits des centaines d’années dans le passé peuvent être de valeur pour les lecteurs d’aujourd’hui. Effectivement, je recommande ce livre à tous ceux qui aiment la philosophie ou la littérature française. Note finale: 5/5.

This book is a masterclass in toxic optimism. What a silly story surrounding a serious message. The satire is the best I’ve read. Sorry Leibniz, I’m granting the win to Voltaire.
