Plath writes so beautifully. I DNFed halfway through because the gloomy sadness started to encroach into me. I think I’ll stop reading sad things.

I read Plath's version in the order she wanted it to be read.
It is brooding, emotional, devastating, heartbreaking... and also uplifting in ways. Reflective on life.

Some poems you can feel how frantic and unwell she was. Maybe I relate a little too much to “The Birthday Present”. A few too many problematic dictions…

some works i found very beautiful, others i found to be nonsense. it is hard to work though plath's work and truly understand what the meaning is.  my favorite poem was the couriers, though it is hard it is also rewarding once uncoded, as it details many issues she had with her husband's adultery. i believe that many of the poems are so dense is because she hid many themes of abuse, the despair she felt with her marriage, depression, suicide, and more from Hughes, who took issue with these topics.

i despise Ted Hughes with my entire being though, for all he put Sylvia through.
