I studied some of this anthology's poems at school, and I've been meaning to get around to reading the whole thing for years, so I'm glad I've finally done that. Unfortunately, I didn't enjoy or appreciate or feel as emotionally attached to this collection as I expected to. It's undoubtedly a literary masterpiece, with so much to say about death and also about relationships and motherhood and despair. However, the racism and the Holocaust comparisons were extremely difficult to stomach, and ultimately meant I just couldn't get on board with this collection or with Plath.

I thoroughly enjoyed this collection of poetry. It’s lengthy and beautiful descriptions are stunning. I love how in contrast the tone and delivery is from one poem to another, as well as some of the extensive metaphors. I didn’t feel like I had to be Sylvia Plath to understand this poetry it was applicable to my life and it felt personal and intimate. It doesn’t feel like there is a right answer to what each poem is supposed to mean it feels interpretive and flexible.

some works i found very beautiful, others i found to be nonsense. it is hard to work though plath's work and truly understand what the meaning is.  my favorite poem was the couriers, though it is hard it is also rewarding once uncoded, as it details many issues she had with her husband's adultery. i believe that many of the poems are so dense is because she hid many themes of abuse, the despair she felt with her marriage, depression, suicide, and more from Hughes, who took issue with these topics.

i despise Ted Hughes with my entire being though, for all he put Sylvia through.

smukke digte. forskellige. jeg kunne særligt godt lide de digte, der handlede om relationer og mentalt helbred.

I don't think this is for me, either I'm dumb as shit or English being my second language or both but I didn't understand a single thing in this poetry collection.

Each page felt like it was a bunch of random words put together with no rhyme or reason. There's no rhythe scheme or metre; the words do not congure up any imagery, beautiful or otherwise; there is no meaning I can decipher... I was so bored throughout the entire thing. I'm not going to give it a star rating because as I said, I think this is not for me and so it wouldn't be fair for me to give it a one star.

Oh also, what's with the racism?? homegirl wrote this in the 1960s the civil rights movement was well under way then so there's no excuse for the bigotry displayed in her writing. She's considered a feminist? smeh white people.
