I’m still processing, but ultimately I laughed, I cried, I felt things. I’m not sure how to do a review without spoiling but will do my best here- this is the first book I’ve read where I think the “thriller” part happens in the first 30%. After that is aftermath over many many years. It sometimes felt slow- but I don’t know that it was…complex, messy, full, hopeful. It kept me turning the pages and the ending was unexpected.

I was hooked right away. The story was easy to fall into. 

That said: the winding narrative/length was a bit much.

Giving it 4 stars because I did end up feeling compelled to read until the end. But in terms of recommending I'd give it a complicated 3.5

One of the best books I’ve read in a while! It’s dark but uplifting at the same time somehow. It’s unlike other books where someone disappears because it’s more interesting and complicated and less predictable and is kind of slow yet a page turner somehow. It’s really beautifully written and easy to grasp without being simple
