To read, this is a book of 3 parts. The first is a thriller, the second lulls and it’s hard to see how the story will progress, but the final third is fantastic with twists and turns. The chapters are unusually short (there are about 230!) showing the story progress from the perspective of different characters. The plot itself is unique and beautifully told.

This was a very very good book. Mysterious, kept me guessing, sad but not heartbreaking. There is romance but it's definitely not a romance!

Chris Whitaker's writing is beautiful, and the characters in this novel are incredible. Patch and Saint are magnificent creations that symbolize - and make me question - much about right vs. wrong. This novel is full of trauma, so its content makes it difficult to read at times. On the other hand, the exquisite writing and short, quick chapters make it easy to read. This book is a wonderful mashup of mystery, romance, and literary fiction. I truly loved this book, and We Begin At The End is now on my TBR.

Gripping story and mysteries that span a lifetime. Dark subject matter but beautiful writing. I did feel like the middle dragged a bit and the ending felt rushed, but would still highly recommend. I really enjoyed the audiobook.

I’m speechless.

I’m not a huge fan of mystery books, but this one got such good reviews that I decided to give it a try. Every time I started to think I knew what was going to happen, something new happened.  Not on a contrived way to keep the reader guessing (which I find annoying) but the story just developed so well.  It may end where you think it will, but the path to get there in original, heart/breaking, and poignant.  This one will stay with me.
