I'm so glad I finally picked up the second half of this duology. If you like your romance with a major portion of wuxia action and adventure this might just be for you!
Did not finish. I've loved other books by the author but for me this one just wasn't engaging. The characters seemed disjointed from their past selves and seemed to act with questionable motivation.
Loved the story, romance was"romantic" but lacked the punch I've come to expect... More later. Maybe. I next to think.

I wonder if I’d have liked this better without reading the prequel first. I’m disappointed. I generally adore Sherry Thomas but this series just wasn’t for me. I found myself more interested in how the engagement was called off than in discovering the treasure that wasn’t, but the story didn’t run along those lines alas.
