I enjoyed the writing and Moore’s sense of humor, but I’m not a fan of zombie books- especially for Christmas. If you don’t mind a little walking dead then this books for you.
This is my second Christopher Moore book, and the first I've listened to as an audiobook. His zany characters and storylines work extremely well in the audio format - you don't have to listen with full attention, which made this excellent in the background while doing household chores, baby care, and cooking. An enjoyable, sarcastic Christmas story set in Pine Cove, the same setting as the other Moore book I read -- Practical Demonkeeping.

Having already read many of his longer works, Moore's Pine Cove series has become a "go-to" anytime I need a break from heavier fiction. This time out, Moore introduces Raziel to Pine Cove (previously in Moore's novel Lamb) on a mission to deliver a Christmas miracle to the child on Christmas.
While I wish Raziel played a more important role than a peripheral character, the story still elicits plenty of chuckles from the usual suspects who make up Pine Cove (and a few new ones).
The Stupidest Angel opens with a war between 40-something Lena Marquez and her ex-husband Dale Pearson. What begins as an altercation in the supermarket's parking lot because Dale promises Lena that he'll put money in a donation pale after shopping (but doesn't) escalates into something much more serious — the death of somebody in a Santa suit.
Under normal circumstances, this strange event might have ended there. But when the death of "Santa" is seen by Pine Cover child, Raziel immediately knows how to intervene and perform a Christmas miracle with disastrous results endured by Pine Cove favorites Theo Crow, Molly Michion, Lena Marquez, and others. Along with them is an interesting addition of Tucker Case and his beloved fruit bat.
In 2005, the novel won the Quill Award in the Science Fiction/Fantasy/Horror category. Namely, this story was an early favorite among readers who appreciate brain-hungry, lightly intelligent zombies. More heartwarming than heady, but that's the point. When you know you need a little Christopher Moore to lift your spirits, Moore always delivers.

Definitely NOT your typical holiday book.
Sick, twisted and funny. If you're offended by cuss words or sex, don't read it.
Molly made me crack up many times. Loved that the main police officer was a stoner and grew his own. The angel was NOT what you picture. And the bad was an interesting touch!
I liked Lena and Tuck as well.
Enjoyed it and goof for several laughs!

I threw this book across the room when I finished it. ugh.
This book was so outrageous! I had several laugh-out-loud moments. I haven't read the other books that have some of the characters yet, and will probably enjoy it better the second time (because I will read it again next year). Too much fun!
I thought this was pretty funny! I would love to see it made into a movie.
Raziel, the titular stupid angel, has been assigned the task of performing a Christmas miracle. Unfortunately, the child he chose to bestow the miracle on had just seen Santa Claus clocked in the head with a shovel. The miracle he wanted was to have Santa alive again. The angel takes that quite literally, and performs his miracle near a cemetery, so... maybe you can imagine the rest.
There is a mentally ill person and this is probably treated in a way which would be found offensive these days. I liked her, though.
This town and some of the characters appear in some of the author's other books. Raziel is the angel who supervises Biff's writing of his Gospel in Lamb.

Classic Moore - silly, inane, absurd, and a good laugh-outloud.
I LOVE his dialogue!

This was my first foray into the world of Christopher Moore... and just what I needed in the holiday hub-bub. So over the top. Just the kind of thing you want to listen to (I listened in the car) or read when you've gotten stuck in mall traffic or are getting cranky about Christmas shopping.
