Wow! This story held my attention throughout and caught me by suprise in more than one spot. I loved the development and description of the relationship between Josh and Logan. Very heartbreaking and believable. Having the story told through Josh's point of view was brilliant (congratulations on writing from a male POV!). Looking forward to reading more from Hannah Mary McKinnon.

2.5. I don’t think I was the right audience for this. The writing was good but the story made me roll my eyes more than once. I finished it, and it was entertaining enough, but not something I’d recommend.

Another five star read by Hannah Mary McKinnon! She is a true genius here, friends.

At the very beginning I was having a bit of a hard time getting into the book because I'm not used to reading books from a male character's perspective. Once I got going, though, I was all in. I NEEDED to know where Logan came from! This is a super quick paced family drama that leads into a twist I never would've seen coming, ever.

I will always recommend Hannah Mary McKinnon books and can't wait to read her latest book, You Will Remember Me, which comes out this May!

What would you do to save a child? What would you do if you found out the child was not who you thought it was?

WOW, WOW, just simply WOW!

This is my first of Hannah Mary McKinnon’s books to read and I’m simply flabbergasted at how WONDERFUL the story was!!

I started reading in carpool line and then it became where I just couldn’t stop reading so, I continued to read at home. This book is an absolute Must Read!! The way Hannah spins the story, the little details she provides that end up becoming big parts of the story. This book was written very carefully and thoughtfully. The emotions, the highs and lows all fit into the story perfectly!

“When Josh’s longtime partner, Grace, dies in a tragic accident, he is left with a mess of grief—and full custody of her seven-year-old son, Logan. While not his biological father, Josh has been a dad to Logan in every way that counts, and with Grace gone, Logan needs him more than ever.

Wanting to do right by Logan, Josh begins the process of becoming his legal guardian—something that seems suddenly urgent, though Grace always brushed it off as an unnecessary formality. But now, as Josh struggles to find the paperwork associated with Logan’s birth, he begins to wonder whether there were more troubling reasons for Grace’s reluctance to make their family official.” -Goodreads

I cannot say enough good things about this book and the author! I will be on a Book Tour in September for this amazing read, so please stay tuned to my FB, IG and blog!

Great premise. Asked a lot of ethical questions. The big one: do right by your (non-biological) child, or “do the right thing”? How well do you really know a person? Good, thought-provoking stuff.
I liked the way the author handles grief and relationships, but the actual writing style wasn’t my favorite. Something about “sucking dust bunnies into the abyss of the vacuum cleaner” comes to mind.

Let’s hear it for the Dads!

I recently read another book and was telling people how refreshing it was because it was about a great Dad (not by blood) as the main character. Something we rarely see! And this book has one too! And I LOVED IT and I think you will too!

In Her Secret Son, Josh is in a really tough spot. He’s lost his love Grace, and finds himself a single Dad to her son Logan. He’s been there for everything since Logan was tiny, but even though he’s not Logan’s biological father – he would do anything for him, including adopt him.

But as he begins the process and can’t find Logan’s birth certificate … questions begin to arise uncovering troubling secrets and he starts to question everything he though he knew about the woman he loved so deeply.

This book was so fast-paced and thrilling to me! I loved every minute. I thought it was going to be a story about a custody battle or a court case – but no! The story line was so much more compelling and so well thought out - intricately woven and captured my attention the entire way through.

A fantastic balance of intriguing tension and very likeable and relatable characters. And that ending … took my breath away!

This book was entertaining, but not at all believable. The ending surprised me and that’s always fun...but it’s better when it’s actually seems plausible.

I’ve had this uncorrected proof on my shelf for almost 4 years. After the first few chapters, I was completely enthralled and annoyed at myself for not picking it up sooner. Then, I read the last three or four chapters, was completely unimpressed at the resolution and now I’m just glad it’s off the shelf.

I seem to have a thing for domestic dramas, and Her Secret Son was just the family drama!

I loved the secrets that start to unravel as Josh tries to get to the bottom of what was going on with Grace. Why so many secrets and what wasn’t she telling Josh?

I felt sympathetic towards Josh, and I really enjoyed seeing his interactions and bond with Logan. Overall, I enjoyed this compelling read!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 stars!
