Not as gripping as some of McFadden's other novels, and not as big of a jaw-dropping twist (and some were a little predictable), but still had me curious as to where it was going that I had to finish it in a couple of days (the standard time frame for any of her books!). One of the twists still threw me enough that I'll have to go back and read it with that in mind. Brilliant writing as always. More of a suspense/mystery & romance than your usual McFadden thriller.

Wow. This book was a lot different from The Inmate but more similar to Never Lie, for me. I really enjoyed the twist and the fact that, even though I was trying to figure out who was who and what the potential motive/crime was, the twists revealed at the end were fresh and literally made my jaw drop.
This book feels artfully crafted to make the two POV’s seem like they’re talking with and responding to one another. It also weaves together complex storylines and friendship dynamics that become very important.
I appreciated that the book delves deep into the female psyche, the pains and complexity of dating, and the challenge of moving on and starting a new relationship.
I think Freida is so masterful at creating characters who are so unlikeable, you know they have to contribute to the twist in some way, but she also writes them in a way that has me wanting to learn more about the unlikeable people.
I do like this one more than The Inmate, because I do think I could go and reread this and possibly see where I could’ve caught on more quickly.

I really enjoyed this book, just like every other Freida book. I just feel like this book could have been a little better paced because the beginning was fairly slow. Luckily I know Freida is always going to wow so I stuck with it. The end seemed to come too much all at once & I think it made it a little hard to follow. This one will definitely need a re read (which isn't really a bad thing)!

It was surprising who the "ex" turned out to be but this felt very similar to a lot of Freida McFadden's other books. It was still entertaining, I just feel like a little more could've happened.
