3.5 stars because it was a super quick, engaging read. The end has a few interrogation scenes that were not the greatest so I could understand how readers might be perturbed by those.

This book was really great, but I guessed who was involved pretty early into the book. Although, I didn't get the conclusion 100% correct and there is a lot more going on in the background of the story that keeps you turning the pages. I loved the writing and character building in this book..

This is another "it's not you, it's me" kind of rating because I knew going into this that it was a domestic suspense book and I am historically unimpressed by domestic suspense. So this particular pairing of reader and book was destined to fail right from the beginning.
I solved the mystery the moment the eventual culprit was introduced. And I rolled my eyes at the melodramatic housewives and simple, carnal husbands. I kept wanting it to be more than it appeared to be, but it wasn't. And for me, that wasn't enough.
I will give props to the author for creating characters that were both believable and complex, keeping the mystery going up until the end. And the audiobook narrator weaves the story and characters brilliantly. So I must, once again, confess: the low rating is entirely my fault and should not deter anyone who enjoys domestic suspense from reading this book.

This book was not thrilling to me. When you get to the reveal and feel very “meh” it’s not a great sign. That said, I felt the mystery and the secrets and the suburban drama came through well.
