Another lovely story by Davies' featuring Noi. Noi goes to stay with his lonely grandma over the summer and they form a strong bond they didn't have before. Noi uses lots of metaphors to describe the rocks which would be great to use when teaching grammar. This is a lovely story that has endless cross-curricular links. I'd use the book with KS1 and lower KS2 children either as a read-aloud story or to base a unit of work around.

My daughters favourite storm whale book by far.

Noi is spending summer with his grandma and while out playing, he gets caught in a storm. With the help of his grandma, Noi rescues a flock of birds that have gotten lost.

A beautiful little book in story and artwork.

Benji Davies has not disappointed us. Noi continues to win our hearts and has firmly carved out a place in our household.

I do feel sorry for the ever-neglected Noi. This time it’s his grandma who is ignoring him. Fortunately he’s an imaginative boy and he has a great time playing in a cave... until the tide comes in! In the end Gran saves the day and spends the rest of the summer playing with him, probably because she feels guilty that he almost drowned. Nice pictures and feel good tale in the end!
