The ending is a little disappointing, but I still enjoyed the story — 3.5 stars

2.5 stars. I LOVED Black-Eyed Susans and couldn't wait to read another book by the same author. I just could not get into this book. The author writes well but the whole premise I found ridiculous. The main character is convinced she's found her sister's killer who now has dementia. So she checks him out of his halfway house to go on a road trip that she believes will reveal what he did to her sister as well as his other victims. I basically skimmed through the whole book to find out what happened but I didn't care enough to read it closely. Disappointed.

3.5 stars
This one started so strong, but the middle was simply wandering around inside the protagonist's head. It was a little confusing to be honest, and for someone who had trained for every scenario, she really wasn't very prepared. I loved Barfly and how he moved the narrator closer to being human for the reader. And, like I've said before, I love a good epilogue so the book gets points for that.

Taking the serial killer out of the dementia ward pretending to be his family to try to find answers sounds like a good idea. With each photo the serial killer Carl has taken it could lead to know that he was responsible for the sister’s murder. All along the way they have a not so intended adventure.

I wanted to like this more than I did, it just left me feeling a little...whelmed.

I would recommend this book to all lovers of suspense. Texans will especially enjoy it.

Suspenseful the entire way, not sure if it needed such a sweet ending, but it was satisfying but basic. Audible.

Original, but insane with crazy stupid characters, a dragging plot, and a confusing conclusion. Also disappointing was that such a big deal was made out of the quality of Carl's photographs, but none of the ones with clues were shown; instead, we got random lists from Grace as a child planning for her idiotic quest. I loved "Black-Eyed Susans" so was disappointed that this wasn't the same caliber.
