Most quotes are precious, most commentaries dispensable.

My goal was to read this each day, for the given day's entry. Well, it didn't happen that way. I ended up hitting it in spurts, 30 - 90 days' worth of entries at a time. To their credit, Holiday and Hanselman successfully made each day self-contained in its wisdom and stoic thought.

A way of thinking

I liked this book and appreciated its consistent themes. As someone who hasn’t studied stoicism outside of this book it feels like there were parts that were a stretch, but ultimately I’m glad I read it.

felt like it was repeating the same things and the descriptions of the quotes were unclear and plain.

Insufferable self-help reinterpretation of stoic writings. I felt sick after two chapters, I think the original philosophers are rolling in their graves.

If you love the affirmative tone of self-help books this is a must read...
