Comically slow pace for at least the first 50%, but when things pick up, they zoom. This was almost, ALMOST a dnf for me but I will be reading at the very least the next book. 

Although my edition had a glossary/character explainer at the end which SPOILED FUTURE BOOKS. 😭

I thought that this was a delightful book that has a tight, concise story that has a fun premise and fun character interactions. I thought the characters were fun, particularly Gen and the magnus. 

My criticism of the book is that sometimes the book exchanged clarity

for the major twist

in a way that I though was clunky given the first person perspective of the novel. 

I’m a big sucker for when character underestimate a character and have to learn from their mistakes.
