A must-read for every writer. Filled with so much great advices.
Quick and insightful read full of lots of quotes that I have tabbed and will try to remember when writing. His overall approach to writing was very inspiring and I will be flicking through this book whenever I need some motivation/inspiration.
Hemingway may not have been as great as he thought he was (he thinks he can whip Flaubert and Dostoevsky), but he was as good of a craftsman and stylist as there has ever been. Anything he has to say about writing is well worth listening to. This book collects many of his insights on writing, and organizes them by themes. It is a delight to read, though when you read about his disciplined approach to writing, you will feel monstrously lazy. This is definitely the kind of book I will refer back to many times in my life.
I would recommend this to anyone interested in writing as a craft.

It was a little dull but I still found it helpful and enlightening.
A collection of quotes from his letters and novels -- on the process of writing and on the experience of being a writer. There's some good stuff in here, but of course it's quite choppy because it's just a bunch of isolated passages tossed together without his input. If you're a Hemingway fan, it might be a 4 star read for you, for the glimpse into his inner world.
Funny how many times Hemingway mentioned in this collection how he was not so fond of the idea of his letters being published, yet here they are. Definitely some great insights into writing and into the life of one of America's greatest writers. The editing wasn't great and overall it was mostly boring little excerpts from his writing with bits of gold tucked here and there. It was boring, but luckily it was also short.
It’s Hemingway, and he’s on his favourite subject. What more could you want?
Some good advice for budding writers as well as providing an insight into Hemingway's personality.
The difference between this book and most books on writing is that this one didn't come all at once. We are privileged to see glimpses into Hemingway's life through notes and letters and it somehow makes it far more personal. It struck deep chords with me and I will always have this book on my desk. He's a great, and someone I will always look up to and aspire to be like. This is a book every writer should have and read just to understand that much more.
