Catherine Walsh can do absolutely no wrong in my eyes and when I saw this was being released I knew my bff wouldn’t disappoint and oh my god this book is just so good! I didn’t want it to end.
The banter and wit of each character is on par with Lorelai from Gilmore Girls. The backdrop for this romance feels so vivid, and none of the side characters felt one-dimensional or unnecessary. And the romance? I was giggling and kicking my feet. My only complaint is that it was too short!

Will be thinking about Christian, Megan and their story until further notice

I honestly loved this one so much more than the first! The flow and connection between the two characters was so good, and I really appreciated that there wasn’t a stupid act 3 breakup thrown in randomly when the lovers were doing perfectly fine. The sex scene is slightly more explicit than in the first book, but I honestly didn’t mind like I would have bc I loved their romance so much!

Meh

After thinking about it, I’m back for a proper review:

I really enjoyed the beginning of this. The runaway bride and fake dating for the holidays premise had me hooked right from the start. However, the second half lost me because there was so much going on that it became hard to stay engaged, and I had to power through. It wasn’t terrible but I think it could have been smoothed out better. I haven’t read Holiday Romance, but since I didn’t particularly like Andrew and Molly in this, I don’t think I’ll be picking it up.

That said, the romance and Christmas setting were enjoyable, and overall, it’s a good holiday read.

I wanted to like this book - I really did! the premise sounded cute but not only did it not resonate with me, the plot twist made me a little furious with the FMC. Careful...there are spoilers below.

What the heck is wrong with Megan?! This whole time I'm reading this book sympathizing with her about maybe not being in love with your fiancé for a multitude of reasons: dated too young and grew apart, wasn't ready to get married yet, maybe wanted to travel the world. Struggling with the idea of going home because she maybe broke this man's heart and a whole small town that maybe doesn't have the empathy you hope they would have. To then find out that this psychopath of an ex logged in to her personal email, pretended to be her in order to forfeit her opportunity at a job, and then try to gaslight her into thinking she's the crazy one.

WTAF?! Are you serious right now!? You don't just run out of your wedding day. You file reports, you tell every single person that knows him, you burn this mo-fo to the ground. You don't scamper off, dread going home because his parents are friends with your parents, try to avoid seeing him, and not tell anyone the truth. This whole backstory made me hate Megan and the entire premise of the fake relationship. You don't want to go home because some random townies *think* you left this good guy on his wedding day and they might be mean to you but you never told anyone that he impersonated you and lost you a job ON PURPOSE! It's kind of a big deal to leave that detail out. And there is no moral high ground of keeping this "secret" of his. She didn't even have to out him and his psycho behavior and still could have said a multitude of things like "he broke my trust" to the randos right from the start! Ugh.

I'm mad at this book, I'm mad at Megan for being such a little wimp, and I'm mad at this author for glossing over absolutely horrid behavior for the sake of a holiday rom-com storyline.

5/5 - Delightful!! I’m not a big holiday romance gal but this book may turn me into one!

This had some new-to-me and all-time-favorite tropes - runaway bride, fake dating, forced proximity, protective MMC (but in a thoughtful, appealing way not an annoying misogynistic way) - plus small town drama, all in a dual POV single timeline format that worked SO well. I also loved that this takes place in Ireland (Dublin, but mostly a smaller village outside of it) - it made the dialogue so much more fun! Between Megan and Christian’s smart banter and the interactions with their quirky families (the Fitzpatricks - love ‘em!) I audibly laughed a LOT.

Megan and Christian were super likable and realistic MCs - they had a pretty magnetic connection and *excellent* chemistry. I was rooting for them from the beginning! There is tension, steam and some epic (open door) spicy scenes! While there is reference to an abusive relationship (Walsh provides a TW before the book begins), there aren’t any explosive upsetting scenes or themes. Emotion, yes! But overall this is a feel good book that gets better and better as you read. I loved that the story was heartfelt and encouraging. Also Christian’s ending monologue was
