Was this book well written? Yes. Could I see the deeper meaning and the allusions to other great works? Also yes. Did I enjoy it? Maybe? I’m not entirely sure I did. Maybe at times…but also not really.

It took me months to get into this book, but once I did, I enjoyed it. I had seen the movie already, though this gave much more detail and an alternative view of the story. Definitely enjoyed it, just be prepared for some confusion along the way.

Interesting use of multiple unreliable narrators (is this all a spoiler?), including the author himself, that all offer different perspectives into the same story. Found the concept of a newborn growing up in an adult body, without the pains of childhood and without the cultural and societal pressure young women are put through, extremely thought-provoking. As it is realising that a man has created this concept and understanding of a woman, a characterisation she herself refutes. All once again written by a man.
Well written, thought provoking and an enjoyable read.
