I don't know what I expected. The formatting of the kindle edition is awful. Even if it wasn't this hardly qualifies as poetry. Randomly splicing semi-thoughtful sentences into separate lines does not a poem make. I'm so tired of Insta poetry. I don't need standard formatting of poetry but i do need a poem that is cohesive and clear (on the page and in meaning) and is more than a quotable thought across 5 lines. This is obviously not for me. Dnf'd at 15%
The formatting made the poetry hard to read, but it reminded me of a less refined "the princess saves herself in this one" by Amanda Lovelace. With some editing, I feel the powerful parts of this book (kindle edition) would really shine. Some poems were relatable and even important to read, especially for the audience the book is targeted for.
Do not get lost in how broken you feel. Find your strength in places you never expected.
