I very much enjoyed this book. The world building took a minute to comprehend but I am loving it. Very excited to see where this quadology goes.

Dear An Ember in the Ashes?
This is a great epic YA fantasy. I do have some recommendations if you are thinking of reading this.
1. Check TWs- it’s brutal, violent, and ruthless.
2. Prior to reading have a stockpile of spoons. This book will cost some and isn’t instant gratification.
3. Take your time. Details. Details. Details. Everything about this is intricate and it’s worth the commitment.
4. Have second book immediately available.

The killing blow is my release.
The only fault I find with this book are the characters themselves but I don't mean that in a negative way. I'm saying it was at times difficult to not get annoyed at the characters naivete but it made sense for them to be so. So I can't really find a fault with that rather it's the way it made me feel like suffering that I find fault with. In other words I'm salty but also really looking forward to the next book because this one was a lot of fun.

*grumbles reluctantly* This book blew me away. Okay, I wasn't very big on the setting, but just saying that would be hypocritical of me, since a trilogy I love with a passion also takes place in a society modeled after Ancient Rome. I can't go into very much else in this review about why it was so good, it just kinda is. Maybe this book is loaded with subliminal messages to make us like it, and that's why everyone loves it!
