"The pastor wheeled me into a room where Santa Claus was sitting in a red velvet chair. Rows of empty metal folding chairs. Santa motioned for me to approach. I limped over to him and climbed up into his lap, positioning my colostomy bag between my legs. This would be the last time I did not worry about leaving a stain where I sat. He placed his hand on my head and said, 'Child, what do you want for Christmas?' and I said, 'A Butthole.'"
The story is simple and funny with a fluidity that lets it speed quickly through narrative, nostalgia, analysis, introspection, and speculation at a breakneck pace. I liked it and it made me think.
