Annie Seaton captures the essence of the Northern Territory in this exciting romantic suspense. I live in the Northern Territory and thoroughly enjoyed the familiar landscape of Darwin and Kakadu. The topics of fracking and indigenous land rights were handled well. As for the crocodiles.... Beware of the crocodiles! If you ever come up here to visit, remember that they don't only live in Kakadu, we often have some in the lake at our local park in the suburbs.

I loved the dynamics between Ellie and Kane. They were both well developed, likeable characters. The romance and the suspense were well balanced, keeping me turning the pages.

I won a paperback copy of Kakadu Sunset through a giveaway on the Books, Babies, Being blog. I loved the fact that I began reading in Darwin, then finished reading on holiday and what turned out to be Annie Seaton's hometown. Small world! Another awesome Aussie author on my favourites list.

This was my first book by this author, it kept appearing on my feed like a message from someone, ok well Facebook lol, but the cover was so pretty and bright. I live in Australia like Annie so I felt so at home reading this, even though I'm a city girl in Melbourne. Kakadu came to life, the sounds, the smells and the sights. The political topics of mining and destruction of land hit so close to home, evil and greed does prevail in corporations and government unfortunately. The main characters were Ellie the female helicopter pilot and Kane the war veteran with plenty of emotional baggage. I enjoyed the banter between them as the drama unfolded. There was excitement, suspense and mystery and I feel that I read faster in the last chapters as I wanted to know the ending. I highly recommend this book for all lovers of romance and suspense.

This was...fine. Great plot, great setting, but the dialogue didn't have any natural flow to it and the pacing, particularly for the character relationships and the romance, was ALL wrong, so unconvincing that I could never be fully invested. It felt like Seaton was attempting to hit the same notes as half the other romance novels out there - notes that usually work, i.e. strong woman falls for strong man and they uncover each other's vulnerabilities and past hurts - but it just never flowed or jumped off the page the way it does in many other romances. Stylistically mediocre writing really dragged down an otherwise inventive story.
