This book gave me some Crimson Peak vibes. I enjoyed the gothic horror of it all, but it didn't live up to my expectations.

The place it fell short for me was that it went in some pretty strange directions. Usually that is what you want and expect from this type of book, but it didn't work in its favor. It had magic that wasn't explained well, and ad much as it added to the story, it also took away because it was so bizarre. It was just too jumbled to make sense enough of it to fully enjoy.

*Thanks the Netgalley and Macmillan for access to a copy of this title.

Not the worst book I've ever read, but I also didn't love it. The magical elements were weird and hard to follow. The plot is interesting. I liked it. I just thought the execution was off.

4.5 stars? 1.5? 3? I have never had such conflicting feelings about a book before. I loved it. I hated it.
The writing was both amazing and somehow also bad, and I can’t decipher where or how. I’m obnoxiously perplexed

I really enjoyed this book however there was WAY more math then I expected there to be 😂 I thought the author explained the math/paradoxes well but personally as someone who’s taken advanced calc classes and am VERY familiar with some of the concepts and it gave me war flashbacks to making curve cross section projects in high school 😂 I thought it was interesting; very different from my usual taste. Very glad I listened to the audiobook

Interesting take on the manifestations of shame and guilt. I ate up the last 200 pages.

I liked this book but I didn’t love it. It started very very slow(100pages kinda slow). I also found it very wordy in places where it was unnecessary. The book was also seriously lacking any sort of chilling, creepy atmosphere. I was expecting a lot more then what I got. I finished it but I will never pick it up again.
