This book is quite the journey. There are tons of things I’m sure I missed but I had a great time reading it. It always amazed me how easy it was to pick back up after a few weeks of not reading. The characters are fun and interesting, the prose is impeccable, and the plot takes all the necessary twists and turns. It takes a lot of patience to pick up this book and finish, but it is so worth it in the end. The count says it best himself that all human wisdom comes from the words “hope” and “wait.”
I picked this up at school. Thinking it would be a drag i tried to read it as fast as possible but as soon as it started i was thrown into a world of liars and power. This wonderful tale takes you along the path of life of Edmond Dantes. A sailor that has way to much luck and misfortune in his life. The way the book moves from themes of power. Loyalty and revenge is so powerful that i could not put it down. I enjoyed the book but not good for beginners or someone looking for an easy read. Some language is difficult and sometimes the story is hard to follow. But i think that is what intrigued me. I loved it and think it is a good book for people trying to broaden their mind and find new books to read.

I liked the beginning section of this book and the ending quite a bit. Most of the middle felt aimless and boring, with the hope that it would all connect by the end, which, to an extent, it did. However, it took so long to do so that I had forgotten who half of the characters were and why I cared for most of the book. I did remember by the end, but yeah, this could've been way shorter and achieved the same thing, and I think would've been a better book for it.
