Ian has had a very rough life. He was literally thrown away at birth, moved from foster home to foster, has never belonged anywhere in his entire life, and on his way to what he hopes is the perfect job interview in Miami, his car dies. The last thing he expects is to be rescued from the side of the road and from his crappy life by tow-truck driver, Bull. I loved how Bull and Red fit together and how everyone came to accept him so easily. The secondary characters were great and I can't wait to read more about them. The chemistry was hot and the romance was sweet. There was the perfect amount to drama to make everything interesting. Overall, a great story of two lost souls finding each other when they needed the most help.

I absolutely loved this story. Ian has been looked down on his whole life. He is ready for things to get better, but on the way to a job interview, his car dies. Bull is the tow truck driver that is called to bring his car home, which is hours away. Bull refuses to leave Ian in the dirt bag motel he has been living in and takes him home. It takes a bit for them both to be willing to open up about their feelings enough for the other to really see them. This story goes from lows to highs and proves that not everything will be fairy tale perfect, but you can work through it. I can’t wait to read more from this author.

I really liked this book more than the first one, book one was great but this one was just fantastic to me. It's insta-love but not, I will explain that a little. It was love at first site for Bull, even though he knew that Ian was there for a reason he also knew he had to know more about him. With Ian it was love at first site for his heart but it took his brain longer to catch up. Having such a tough life from the moment he came into the world he was slow to trust and even slower to actually think that anyone could love him. Patience and love was all Bull gave Ian until he realized that he was so much more than the worthless trash he believed himself to be.
The absolute patience and heart that Bull put out to Ian made this book a 5 star read for me, even though Bull struggled with his past and the nightmares that the past brought on he still knew that he found his forever with Ian. This book was so well written and emotional you could feel the love jump off the pages.

i'm not sure how i've missed this author or this series but i'm so glad it finally fell in my lap. when i was halfway through this book i went to goodreads to see what else jessie has written. turns out this is book 2 in this series and i bought book one back in june. i seriously don't know if i can read book 1 any
time soon because this book was so good i'm afraid i might be disappointed if book 1 isn't as good. i really didn't want this story to ever end.

let me start my review by saying that my answer to my kids when something happens they don't understand is 'everything happens for a reason, even if we don't see or understand why". i absolutely love that this was a main theme in such a wonderful but heavy story.

so...ian. i'm not sure there are words to describe the pain you feel when reading about his life. it is a physical pain that is almost incomprehensible, especially for a mother. seeing how strong and how wonderful
he is when bull brings him out of his shell is truly amazing considering what he went through. it was hard to remember that this is just fiction - i so wanted to be able to reach out and just hug ian several times in this book.

and that brings us to bull...big, beautiful bull. the way he loved ian was absolutely magical. the way he takes care of everyone in the book makes you a little jealous if you don't have someone like that in your life. he was the perfect match for ian and melts your heart on every page.

the supporting cast is fantastic and i sincerely hope every one of them gets a story - saul, javier, chris, liam, billy, owen, bella, craig...and maybe even a novella of maddie & keiran :) - and now i have to go back and read about ric and davin.

jessie thank you for such a wonderful story. i look forward to more great things from you.

This was a good angsty read. The author did a good job of conveying the world views of the two characters and the reason for them. It was all a bit extreme though - a bit fantastical although it is a contemporary.

Everything happens for a reason. That's what Bull believes and he had me (and Ian) believing it as well! Wowzers! I really enjoyed this book!!!

Ian and Bull were awesome together. Ian had a very lonely, painful childhood and was used to not relying on anyone. Bull had a very loving childhood and is used to protecting and helping everyone. Opposites attract! I loved Ian's vulnerability and quiet (yet fierce) strength and I loved Bull's desire to provide and his leadership.

Despite issues that arise for them, they actually COMMUNICATED!! This made me very happy. There was some drama in the story line, but not too much angst.

I loved all of the secondary characters. I did not know until right now that this was a book 2, so this really could be read as a standalone. I didn't feel like I really missed much from book 1 ([b:Past Hurts|22305545|Past Hurts (Sizzling Miami #1)|Jessie G.|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1400874611s/22305545.jpg|41695650]) in order to make this story work. I will definitely be going back to read book 1 though...and 3 and 4!

I found a new author that I enjoyed immensely. This was a 4.5 star book for me.

Big editing improvement makes this a great read

3.5*

There's a massive improvement in the editing and proofing of this book so that the great story at the heart of it doesn't get buried.

Bill and Red are a superbly crafted as fated pair of characters, each with their own unique insecurities which makes them the perfect partner for the other.

I also really liked the whole fated theme running through this one with circumstances all conspiring to put Red in Bull's path when he needed him.

Their relationship never felt rushed, even though it happened quickly, and I loved how the wider family of friends accepted Red into their lives.

Fun and sexy.

This is a fun romance that I have read several times. I love their interactions and the way their feelings build.

I loved this book so much. I think I had a smile the entire time reading it. It's a very sweet read. It's pretty much insta-love but not obnoxiously so, they just realize something important in their lives just happened with their meeting (even if it's not actually mentioned for awhile in the story). Bull is such a good guy. He's there for everyone. Anytime any one needs anything they call Bull, which isn't always a good thing. He's so used to taking care of everyone that he spreads himself too thin and doesn't share his burden with anyone, until Ian. Ian had a horrific childhood, though it could've been worse, he struggles so much with his self worth. For some reason he keeps surviving, even though he believes he has no value and is nothing, until Bull. I just loved watching Ian bloom into this relationship with Bull. He gets confident and builds a whole new life that he could only imagine in his dreams previously. But don't think it's all one sided, Bull has PTSD from his time in the military and Ian helps him through the nightmares. I wish that had been addressed more realistically with a shrink, but it was fine. It deals with some HEAVY topics but Bull and Red actually deal with their issues and talk them out with each other. And towards the end with Red gets a major shock, Bull actually keeps his opinion to himself until Red asks and acknowledges that how to proceed is completely up to Red and Bull's just there to support him. I know that seems like a given, but that almost never happens in romance novels. I LOVED IT. I love the entire circle of friends aka family, the supporting characters were great. LIKABLE FEMALES (though they were minor characters).

All in all I enjoyed this way more than Book 1 in the series, Past Hurts. And can't wait to read Book 3, The Protector, and hopefully there's a book 4 coming for some other characters that need their stories told(though apparently the characters are going to be paired up in a different way than I expected them to be.)
