Bought the whole series!

I bi he watched the series on Netflix then realised it was from a book so came to find the author and have purchased the series.
I was super impressed with The Duke and I. I loved all of the characters and the storyline. So much better then the show (which was still good) but as my first foray into this author I was not disappointed and I’ve gone ahead and bought the whole Bridgertons Book Series.

So boring, so badly written, so careless with female representation... Not worth my time.

I found myself underwhelmed by this book. I did watch the show first, so one thing I enjoy is being able to see more of their perspectives as they fall in love. I think it made their love story feel more genuine. However, this book was just fine. While they fell in love quickly, it had enough substance that it wasn't an issue for me. Everything after they get married is where it falls flat. One of their biggest marital conflicts is treated very poorly and it makes the ending an uncomfortable read. Daphne's actions were very upsetting and somehow she acted as though Simon was in the wrong. If this book had handled the conflict better, it would have earned a higher rating.

Listen. Was it low key kind of problematic? Yes. Was it still fun? Yes. Is the TV show better? Yes. Different, but better. Will I still read on? Probably. Listened to the audiobook for a little mini book club with my friends. Who knows if we'll actually discuss it at any point, but it was fun to think of them as I listened.

Okay so like...I feel like I only liked it because of the show?? WHICH I KNOW I KNOW. DO NOT COME FOR ME. I am a strict read the book before the movie person, okay. I promise. But the show is what attracted me to the books so don't come for me!! I just..I'm kinda disappointed? I thought the book would blow me away, but it didn't...is it bad that I like the show more? Isn't it supposed to be the other way around????
