I really wanted to like this, putting this historical info in a graphic novel format is novel (especially when it’s done in such a brutal way without softening history). The book isn’t meant to be pleasant and I knew going into it that it would be tragic, but it felt depressing reading about conquering after conquering. I don’t understand the emphasis on the number of people participating in and killed in each skirmish. Personally I would have preferred to include more historical/cultural context instead of head counts.

This book was extremely informative, but I'm not sure how I feel about it's choice to exclusively focus on violent forms of resistance. I will definetly continue to think about this book for a long time, and the violence that it shows is the foundation of the western capitalist world.
