One of my very first Amanda Quick novels that I read while I was 14 years old. I adored the story instantly and have loved these classic Amanda Quick novels so much that I have bought and re-read them throughout the years. JAK/Amanda Quick became such an instant hit for me when I was young was due to the fact that her heroines were often very intelligent and unconventional beauties. For example, in DANGEROUS, Prudence Merryweather is a spectacle (glasses) wearing spinster (granted she was only 25 yrs. old) who had an unusual hobby of investigating ghosts. Prue was not a conventional beauty of her time but very much a modern thinking woman who happened to live in the 1800s. I loved that about all of JAK/Amanda Quick stories. All of her heroines and heroes are modern thinkers who were only limited by the rules of society in which they lived.

Finished it but probably won't read any more. I had forgotten how all her books seem to follow the same pattern in the character relationships. Blah.
