Anne Rice having Louis no-homo his way through two long relationship with men is absolutely wacky.

My favorite part is actually when Lestat makes Claudia to essentially baby trap Louis. Insane behavior. I love these gay losers.

i'm not really sure why i loved this book so much when i was a teenager because it was a chore to finish this once i had started. the only reason i completed this book was because it was in audio form and it kept me occupied on my drive to and from work. that being said, i might try some of the other books in the series, i just didn't care for the content of this one but it was well written.

It may seem like I'm harping on this book a lot but honestly? Kinda obsessed 🤷🏻‍♀️ I don’t think I’ll do a reread of this but I'm very willing to daydream about this for a few years. Especially if I really, really like the second book.

It's a very introspective book and feels like not much happened at all. And yet it was still pretty gripping reading through Louis's past.

Unfortunately the guy is also so consumed is his "oh, I'm so sad, woe is me" charade, none of the really interesting things I wanted to know were ever delved into.

Claudia and Lestat, especially with the brief glimpses we had of his feelings throughout the book, were super compelling. And I'd be happy to read the second book as I heard it's from his perspective. And I want to know just how much Louis was holding back on us.

Some passages and descriptions felt like I took acid trips or something with how strange it was, which is pretty cool now that I think back on it, so I'd say the writing style meshed pretty well with me.

(My god, the amount of hypocrisy just dripping off this wet blanket of a MC is honestly hilarious and astounding.
I honestly can't get over how drab the guy is, no wonder the reporter guy felt like he could a much better job if he had immortal life.
)
