This was fine.
We get it, the main characters are 'emotionally constipated'. And the MMC is a walking red flag who has 'never trusted a women'. I found the writing quite stilted and trite.
However, I enjoyed the supporting cast and would read a book about Liberty and Merle.

This book had so many things I like in a book that I wanted to like it so much, but I just felt a little like the FMC didn't have the character growth that I wanted her to have. She never admitted she was wrong when she made a mistake and all the characters pretty much agreed it was not her fault when I felt like it was almost entirely her fault. MMC and his family showed a lot of growth but it just felt a little out of nowhere.
It also bothered me that anything the characters spoke about that happened in their childhood basically happened at age 6 or 16. Maybe that's just me being picky, but it felt weird after the second and third time.
I really wanted to like this book and the first half pulled me in so I saw it through, but the second half just didn't feel quite right.
