God, I love Dave McKean!

This was quite the read. I've heard very good things about this book before, but actually reading it was something else. This book does an amazing job of exploring the origins of Arkham Asylum, as well as exploring Batman's sanity.

Artsy. Poetic. Beautiful. Loved it.

"Sometimes... Sometimes I think the asylum is a head. We're inside a huge head that dreams us all into being. Perhaps it's your head, Batman. Arkham is a looking glass. And we are you."
God, I love this quote and it came from Hatter, of all fucking people. One of my all time favorite Batman quotes came from a villain I've never given a single shit about.

Madness is born in the blood.
It is my birthright.
My inheritance.
My destiny.

The one complaint I have is Joker's dialogue, shit's fucking unreadable. Wait, let me just bust out my trusty 3d decoder glasses and then we can solve this puzzle, Batman.

This is not a traditional Batman story. It works more as a work of horror than action or mystery. I was totally on board for this, except, it is kind of crap. There is such a great concept behind it, but in the end, nothing of consequence ever happens. It raises the stakes just to completely disregard them. The artwork is delightfully creepy, but from a storytelling perspective, this is a complete waste.

5/5 estrellas.

The lettering is unreadable and annoying which takes away a star.

Дълбоко впускане в Аркам, тъмнината, страхът, несигурността, мотивацията, и цялостната същност на Батман.
Илюстрациите или ще те отвратят, или ще те шокират(по добрия начин). Няма средно положение.

What a beautiful book. There are full page graphics that are absolutely breathtaking. This book feels sinister which is really all I can ask for in a Batman book about Arkham. Such a wild ride.
